Would help to start at Heb 7:26.

Put as simply as possible; The earthly sanctuary was established (tabernacle) for the House of Israel under the Mosaic Law. Its where they went to offer a sacrifice which covered (not forgiven) their sins.

Our sanctuary is in the Lord Jesus Christ. We can come to the throne of God; because Christ became the final sacrifice for sin.

I realize there can be a lot more said; but I'm a simply minded person and most certainly not qualified to do so.

To fully explain this; it would take a book.

I would say that there is, indeed, a temple/snactuary/tabernacle in Heaven. The Bible refers to it a few times very specifically:

Rev 11:19: "And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail."

Rev 6:9: "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:"

Rev 8:3: "And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne."

Zech 4:2 "And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:"

In these verses we see the temple, the ark of the testimony, the altar, the altar of incense and the golden candlestick, or lampstand, if you will. All of these are things which were seen in the earthly tabernacle, furnishings whch the Lord gave very specific instructions for their construction, because they were a picture of the true items in Heaven. We know also that the cherubim stand at the throne of God, which we see also in the tabernacle overshadowing the mercy seat on the ark. The earthly tabernacle was a picture of the heavenly, which I believe exists to this day in Heaven.
