Building The Foundation
King James Daily Bible Study Devotional
Message Title: Building The Foundation
Date: Tuesday April 10, 2012
Today's Chapters: 1 Kings 6-7

Hello My Friend,

A foundation is the basis or ground work on which any thing stands, and by which it is supported. When building a house no matter how strong the wood, bricks, or rods, without a solid foundation that house would be destroyed when strong winds or a storm comes around. The foundation of every Christian is Jesus Christ, whatever we build upon that foundation will withstand the strong winds and storms of life. “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” - 1 Corinthians 3:11-15.

480 years after the Israelites were freed from Egypt, King Solomon began construction of the Temple, it was built out of the finest stones and materials. Every stone added to the foundation was shaped and molded to fit perfectly upon one another so there was no noise made in the Temple while constructing it. “And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits. And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house...And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.” -1 Kings 6:2,3,7.

This silence was the design of God and illustrates the unnoticed manner in which Christ builds His foundation upon the Christian. We are transformed into His glorious likeness, not by noisy human efforts, but silently by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us as He day by day mixes the materials together for His foundation to be solid a a rock. “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,” -Hebrews 6:1.

It took seven years for the Temple to be completely finished, somewhere in between the fourth year of his reign to the eleventh God spoke to Solomon. “And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying, Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father: And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel. So Solomon built the house, and finished it.” - 1 Kings 6:11-14.

This is the same promise God makes to all who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. If you have Christ in you, God dwells in you and will never leave you, but do not expect Him to be joyous about any sin in your life. He loves you, He despises sin, while God will never forsake those who put their faith and trust in His Son, He will chastise every believer who does not keep all His commandments. “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” - 1 Peter 4:16,17.

Solomon's Temple was not a large structure compared to some of today's massive worship centers. Its beauty was not in the workmanship or the excessive costliness of its materials. Although the building was beautiful, the real glory of the Temple was deep within. This Temple was the only structure on earth ever to be the dwelling place of the Almighty God. Many of today's churches may look impressive, but God does not dwell in them, nor even comes close to dwelling in them. Today, God dwells within the saved people within the buildings, not in the buildings themselves. “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;..For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.” -Acts 17:24,28,29.

Do you know how many Christians claim to be of God yet are what can be known as dead Christians. A dead Christian is a person who knows all about Jesus Christ, goes to church, serves in their church, tithes, does all the things a Christian would do, but lacks one thing, Christ. Without having a personally accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior, they have no foundation, the works they do will not save them from hell. Jesus said, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” - Matthew 7:21-23. Unless a person personally calls on Jesus Christ themselves they do are a dead Christian. “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” - 1 John 5:12.

How do you call on Jesus? “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” - Romans 10:9,10. You must pray and ask to be saved. All who call upon Christ are saved. All who call upon Christ are planted upon His foundation and as long as we let Him build His foundation upon us and build everything we do upon that foundation we will succeed. “If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.” -1 Corinthians 3:17-19.

Today's Psalm: 127:1 - “ Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”
Today's Proverb: 24:3 - “Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:”
Today's Prayer: God, I want a strong foundation to build my life upon, I want Christ to be that foundation. Whatever You have to do to make that foundation solid for me to build upon please give me the strength and patience to endure it. Jesus, as I build my life upon Your foundation lead me and guide me, transform me into Your likeness and give me the wisdom I need to be successful, no matter what obstacles I face to get there. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Enjoy the rest of your day/night.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
