  3. Can we count to 50 before a Mod posts?

That question was asked some time ago, Omega. BroMatt said no, you could not post twice in a row.
  4. Cutting Children off

My children are grown. They got plenty of deserved discipline as they grew up...they were very strong willed and had all sorts of outside influences in their ears...including my mother. They chose to turn against everything I tried to teach them They lied, cheated and stole from me, including both my grandmothers' wedding bands and my mother's engagement ring (stolen to pawn for drug money) out of MY OWN HOUSE when we took them in while they were homeless. They bought into the world's idea that any form of punishment was abuse. If I said the sky was blue, they'd say it was red and then have a FIT if I told them they were wrong. I truly think I'm better off without them in my life. They can do their own thing. One of them spent 7 years in prison for drug dealing and wire fraud. She thought she was smarter than everyone else...she blames me for losing parental rights to her children. I wasn't the one who went to prison. I wasn't the one who wouldn't follow the reunification plan set out by the girls' father and the courts. My middle child...he owes me about 20 thousand dollars for all the bills I paid for him while he was overseas in the Army. He claimed the Army messed up his allotment to me and like an idiot I believed him until I changed bank accounts and the story started to not add up. So, I took it upon myself to check into the story and exposed his lie. Instead of expressing any remorse, he told me to get out of his life and wished I was dead. My youngest and his "wife" are the ones who stole the jewelry from me. Then they got all bent out of shape when I caught them smoking dope in my house. They dumped their son (my grandson) with my ex-felon daughter who hangs around other ex-felons and went their separate ways. My son is now living in his friend's attic. I pray for them, for their salvation daily. However, I have no intention of letting them back in my life. I may not have been the world's greatest mother and I know I made many mistakes. HOWEVER, no matter how hard it got, or how broke we were, they always had a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs, food in their bellies, talks about God and his goodness, what it takes to be saved. They chose to turn against it all. They are all upset they didn't have the "Leave it to Beaver" childhood.

    Let's stay on topic. Thanks.
  6. Can we count to 50 before a Mod posts?

I want to see if we can get to 50 the original way, because I feel bad for doing it another way for some odd reason. There's an alternate way to accomplish this. Are there any rules for not posting 2 times in a row, because if there isn't any, then I already won.
  7. Cutting Children off

Saved41199, I was an all out rebellious kid when I was growing up, and this lead to chastisement hundreds of times from my Mother and Father. It wasn't too extreme, only on rare occasion where I would kept making the same mistakes over and over again. I am a Father to one 11 year old son, and, to me, he's a godly son. However, when you have more than one child, sometimes they can rub off on each other in the wrong way and influencing them. The Bible is always correct, of course, but also often misinterpreted. Clearly, we don't have to beat our children daily. And we don't necessarily have to ever resort to physical punishment. Many factors come into play, chief among them is the child in question. Some children are naturally responsive, some are more rebellious. Some can easily be corrected by a word of reproach, some need a firmer hand. Add to this the fact that all parents are different. Add to this the fact that this is partly a cultural issue as well. In a culture where everyone else beats their children regularly, a total absence of physical punishment might be interpreted wrongly -- by the child who is not receiving it; in a culture where almost no one engages in corporal punishment, using it regularly would also be likely to send a questionable message to the child. I can't speak on behalf of other families on this board because I haven't walked in their shoes and I don't know the full extent of their mental anguish as a result of their children's rebellion. The point is that this is all up to the parents who are responsible. If they are doing a good job raising their children, there is little anyone else can say -- and unless we are talking about exceptional abuse on the one hand or exceptional neglect on the other, there is little anyone outside of the family SHOULD say. Proverbs gives good advice: perfect, divine advice. It has to be rightly understood. The message of these verses has less to do with the mode of discipline than the need for discipline, however administered. We all needed that. And we all ought to be grateful for parents who provided just what we needed in a loving and godly way, especially inasmuch as this helps to condition us to respond to our heavenly Father -- who knows just how to discipline us in just the right way whenever that is necessary: Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? (Hebrews 12:9) God Bless! Daniel
  8. I have often wondered where this was ....

Well, I am sorry to report that what seemed like revival appears in fact to me like this: It looked good on the outside but underneath the flashy and packed exterior it was....... lacking any true substance .... I guess it is back to your way Pastor Scott.......
  9. Can we count to 50 before a Mod posts?

You may have Omega, BroMatt allowed it once in 2009.
  10. The beauty of creation

Why are you even reviving this IRRELEVANT line in this thread?
  11. Yes we all do. We recently had a visiting preacher who was a prison chaplain who aid he was at a meeting of all the other chaplains from various denominations and religions. He said that there could only be one true religion. the only one who agreed with that statement was the Muslim. All the others including CofE and RC were very much against him. It was a while back and I can't remember his exact words.
  12. The beauty of creation

I believe that dogs refer to human dogs, but I have been told by literalist teachers that dogs mean dogs.

  16. Mid Tribulation fleeing of Israel

Hi Eric, Thank you for your reply. Galatians (3) - as we both know is presenting the truth that we are not perfected by the works of the law but by faith in Christ, (who fulfilled the law). We are the `children of Abraham,` meaning `of faith` such as he had. It does NOT mean we are now physical Israel. `So then they which are OF FAITH are blessed with believing Abraham.` (Gal. 3: 9) There is still such a nation as Israel, with people who are physical descendants of Abraham. That is NOT us. Romans (11) - Who does God say is the Olive tree? The root is holy. (v.16) The root has fatness. (v. 17) The root supports you. (v.18) No other than the Lord Jesus Christ can fulfill all those requirements. Only the Lord is Holy. Only the Lord can replete (fatness) fill us up. Only the Lord supports us. Thus we are IN CHRIST, NOT in Israel. Regards, Marilyn.
  17. Mid Tribulation fleeing of Israel

Marilyn, Galatians 3:6-7 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. (Israel is the olive tree) Romans 11:17-20 17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: (The Jews that don't accept Jesus are broken off the tree of Israel and those Gentiles that accept Jesus are grafted into Israel the olive tree.)
  18. Mid Tribulation fleeing of Israel

Hi Eric, We do get to some interesting points. So you believe we, the Body of Christ are grafted into Israel. Can you please show from scripture how you have come to this view, please? regards, Marilyn. BTW I do know the scriptures you are referring to but would like to see how you present them.
  19. I hope he can get his job back...and then I hope he's safe while there!
  20. I have often wondered where this was ....

OK first test.... This was us this morning: This is us this afternoon: Can I suggest that a small spray is enough at first.... start off gently - not like I did - a big spray all around the building and this is the result - and people still coming in even though we have finished the morning service!
  21. Mid Tribulation fleeing of Israel

Marilyn, All Christians are grafted into Israel. The saints are in the army. Psalm 149:5-9 5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. 6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand; 7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; 8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; 9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.

  23. I have often wondered where this was ....

Oh well - that is bad luck for you. I will try it today and report back when I have time. I expect it to be several weeks from now before things settle down..... If it works out maybe I can buy a case and send it to you to pass out to the others?
  24. Mid Tribulation fleeing of Israel

Hi Eric, Now it seems to me that those people - `Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.` are saints, people of Israel, for the Body of Christ was not known or even begun. As to the `armies,` well it never says they are the body of Christ. All through God`s word we see that the armies of heaven, are the angelic host. regards, Marilyn.

"Bug" at a nearby state park. Anyone know what kind of "bug" it is?
  26. I have often wondered where this was ....

OH, NO!!!!! My wife just looked online to purchase some of this (as a joke for our revivalist-evangelist friend); but she discovered that they do not sell it in the United States. No revival for us the easy way. Guess we have to continue pursuing the hard way.
