Welcome @Tonya88. Are you viewing backsliding and losing salvation as the same?

BroMatt got a reaction from heartstrings in Calvinism or Arminianism? How do you answer?
I find it alarming that too many people think that there are only two choices here. Neither Calvinism or Arminianism lines up with Scripture.

I figure about the second month into the Tribulation period, just before all of the electricity is cut off as the government decreed private individuals have to live without electricity, and the solar power gives out due to the darkness, and that living off the grid and in caves preclude anyone from any further posting on the internet, that someone will win the prize.

BroMatt reacted to DaveW in Hunting yummy things
I love the country but was brought up a city boy, so hunting has never really been on my radar.
My meat comes cold packed from a supermarket.
Never had Caribou ( have flown in one, but that is an entirely different subject!), but I do enjoy a bit of Bambi when I come across it.
I never understood the idea of trophy hunting or sport hunting.....
For food, absolutely ( even though I have never done it), but killing for fun or for bragging rights??????? Makes no sense to me.
If you want hunt for sport use a camera or find range with targets.

Oh yeah - it makes sense to me if it is me or the bear.......
But the real point is getting yummy stuff for the cooktop.
Bambi ribs are yuuuuuumy. Roos is really nice.
Crocodile didn't impress me much, but Buffalo is alright.
Over here meat choices are limited to farmed stuff in the normal stores - beef, lamb, pork, chook....us sorry  chicken.
And not a great deal of hunting here - wild pig, roos, wild goat....... can't think of too much else.
If you can find a place you might get an emu or camel - but who is gonna butcher a camel? Especially since you will be 500miles from anywhere and you will have to transport the meat......
Anyway - there's your thread Jim.

Many of you know that we started a church 2 years ago. I think I can write a book on these first two years. We've gone through a lot as a church including a split that left us down to 10 people......but when you put your trust in God and stay faithful He will bless. Things are really busy so my Online Baptist time is not what I would like for it to be. God has been blessing us as a church and we seen a lot of growth that we have not experience as a church before. If I have time I'll post sometime what God has done. Below is two of our most recent baptisms.

Yes it is. It seems that some preachers try to impress others by finding some new revelation in Scripture that no one has heard before.

Let me start out by saying that I love sports, but rarely watch them anymore but still follow scores on my phone. With the Superbowl coming up next week, I see a lot of churches in this area hosting Superbowl services. They will watch the Superbowl, and have a service at halftime. Have we become so culture orientated that our services are more about culture now than they are about worshiping Jesus?

Yes, that it true, church first. Being a new church we have lunch after the morning service then follow that with an afternoon service. While I enjoy watching football, the enjoyment does not compare to being in church.

Weary Warrior - You are absolutely correct. Churches stopped training young men and started relying on schools like BJU, PCC, Crown and a few others. Though I like these institutions, they do not train young men to pastor churches. The young men come out completely clueless and usually have no basis of the Bible. I encourage young men to go to "Preacher Schools" like New England Baptist College, or other church run schools out there.
Independent Baptist Churches need to get back to what made them - The Word of God!

@BroMatt Open would be nice, but then if there's a private conversation that some ladies wouldn't want men to read there might be an issue. Is there a way you could make it like the men's forum? Access to ladies only with no password?

The "worship team" must have quite the dilemma.
    I mean, think about it:
If I turn the screen off at halftime, how do I know when to stop the service?
If I leave the screen on with the sound off, will folks be distracted by the halftime show?
If I leave the screen on AND the sound on, do I have conflicting songs from the "praise band" and halftime marching band?
If I turn the screen off, will people be watching the halftime show on their personal devices?
If I allot time for bathroom and drink breaks at the beginning and end of the service, how much time do I have without missing 3rd Qtr kick-off?
If I skip the service, these people could be at home.
If I skip the game, these people may very well be at home.

I think I need a raise, will someone make such a motion?
