  2. According to Spurgeon's own words, he tried to believe BOTH views, but evidently did not understand the scriptures completely. He figured that the two "truths" would be reconciled somehow in eternity. But God is not the author of confusion. When I got saved, I didn't even know the name "Spurgeon"; didn't need to. . I believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. I trusted in His word. I believe the answers to these questions are in "the volume of the Book" and I have studied this for myself. I trust what the Bible says. Furthermore, being indwelled with the Spirit, I know the Voice of the Shepherd: I know not the voice of "Calvinism". This verse just came to mind last night as I was driving home... Proverbs 18:1Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. I don't know everything that verse means but, I believe it applies to growing in knowledge as a Christian AND I believe it applies to salvation. You have to "desire" it. If you want to be saved, God ALREADY "desires" you FIRST and He's willing and waiting to save you. But YOU have to desire Him and when you do, you will "separate yourself", in your heart, from sin and self and come to Jesus. God will not make you do it. I can only "speak what I know" to be true in my own life. http://www.patheos.com/blogs/adrianwarnock/2010/12/giving-spurgeon-the-last-word-on-arminianism-and-calvinism/
  3. No worries. I said my peace on this. You have a nice day, friend, and welcome to Online Baptist. :)
  4. This is another way to put it. Mat 7:15 ΒΆ Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 2 Corinthians 11: 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. Bob, Calvinism is a doctrine of devils. It makes God out to be a selfish monster. In that sense it is blasphemy against God as it presents the nature and character of God as such. "and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man" the Bible says. People like MacArthur present it as something glorious and good when it is really disgusting. Even LOST people can see it for what it is. So, yeah, when a man teaches all kinds of "good" stuff while pushing evil, I would compare it to rat poison. Jesus just called it being a wolf in sheep clothing.
  5. I agree with the 10% rat poison and have no intentions of listening to John MacArthur. But I would point out that "elders" of New Testament churches is plural, and "elder rule" is biblical.
  6. I discovered that the new pastor of our IFB church was "preaching" internet copies of the sermons of one John Piper to our church; practically word for word. I also discovered that this man, John Piper, pushed Calvinism. So, I asked the pastor about this and was forcefully reprimanded. I never exposed what he was doing, to the rest of the church, but he treated me badly thereafter as the church continued on with an ever increasing leaning toward teaching the "sovereignty of God' and that God's greatest interest is His "glory". This is one of the reasons I no longer attend our local IFB church. No church is immune to heresy.
  7. Grandma and Grandpa were sitting on the porch together, rocking. After some time, grandma looks over at grandpa, smiles, and says "I sure and proud of you". Grandpa cupped his ear, turned and said "what did ya say?". Grandma says a little louder "I said I sure am proud of you". Grandpa- "Huh?" Grandma "I'm PROUD OF YOU" Grandpa "Well I'm TIRED OF YOU TOO"

  9. I have Pentecostal, "Full Gospel" and COGIC friends, who I believe are as saved as I am. We have played music at a Methodist church, on Saturday nights, in which the pastor took a break in the middle of the 'gig' to preach a Gospel message on salvation by grace through faith with power and conviction. I do believe the Baptist set of doctrines to be the most Biblical, especially fundamental Baptists, but I don't see how any Baptist could be a "Baptist brider".
  10. I can, from past experience, say with 99.9% certainty that the administrators of this site do NOT hold to the "Baptist Brider" false doctrine.
  11. Have you ever sat in church and done this? I have many times. Is she full of the joy of the Lord? I can't say. But I can only imagine how overwhelming all of this must be to this precious lady. God bless the Trumps. I'm praying for them.
  12. I read this far and no further: What the "Pope" wants is control, power and money. He cares nothing about people's salvation. The Bible says no such thing. But it does say this: As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:9
  13. "Primitive Baptists believe the most beautiful and only scriptural instrument for use in New Testament worship is the human voice. All singing is conducted a cappella (without instruments). " It has always seemed strange to me that a long-time friend of ours is a Bluegrass music lover, performer, yet he's a member of a PB church. As a matter of fact his brother, also a PB, once hosted an annual Bluegrass festival at our town. My friend sings all those old hymns, spirituals an Gospel songs while picking his guitar accompanied with banjo, fiddle, bass fiddle, mandolin etc. But about PB, what turns me off the most is the Calvinism.
  14. What will definitely make America great again? 2 Chroncles 7:14 Humble ourselves, and pray, seek God's face, turn from our wicked ways.......and pray for President Trump!
