I realize this is a bit after the fact, but I just heard recently of a toast that was made, not with beverages, but with the favorite candy of both the bride and the groom. Everyone was given a piece of the candy for those who wanted to participate in the toast. I thought this was a wonderful alternative to beverage toasts.
Yes, as long as the Holy Spirit is dealing (drawing) with the individual. They have to know they are a sinner and in need of a Saviour, they need to be sorry that they have sinned against God, they need to confess that need, they need to endeavor to not continue in their sin, they need to believe that Jesus paid for their sins, and then receive the gift of eternal life that Jesus is offering them.
When the Philippian jailer asked that question, the answer he was given was "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." If having "steps" helps the one who is encouraging the other to get saved, I see nothing wrong with it.
If a person is just going along to get you off their backs, (or if you are pushing them and it is not their own decision) then no, the "steps" will not get anyone saved.
I am not sure we are talking about the same man. I do know he was into secular music, but what I found about him does not seem to be the same one you are referencing. Google :North Valley Baptist Church. Pastor Clint Miller.
I did not know those types of songs done by him were on the internet. I never looked for them.. I know before he was saved, he did sing worldly songs, was connected with Nashville music. I only recommended him because of his songs about the Psalms since he got saved. I surely would not want all of you to know the types of songs I sang before I got saved.
I have heard of a Pastor in California that does this, I have two of his cassette tapes (shows how long ago this was)
but I cannot think of his name and I have the tapes at church. If I can remember I will check it out at church tonight,.
As homosexuality becomes more accepted, and as it comes closer to homes of more people, the temptation to change our minds will become greater. The devil knows we never want to have to separate from our children. But we will have to stay strong. Pray for your Pastors like never before, pray for the leadership of your churches. Pray for those who are not strong enough to withstand the temptation.
