If most are grounded; there would be no need for a debate. Maybe a "Discussion" platform would be more appropriate.

Visited a neighbor's church for a singing, it was new music. Sounded like something in the elevator, I couldn't understand the words. I got up and left.

Bro K reacted to Miss Daisy in Would This Be A Good Church?
First, it's called a "community" church. Everything about that "church" is all about the "community". New evangelisms key word. Seem to focus on relationship more between you and the "community" vs. your relationship with Jesus.
I agree with John81, everything description is way to brief. Way to short to include any doctrines to be wary of.
Also, there is the statement under Humanity, that says there is nothing we can do to re-establish our relationship with God. Sounds like Calvinism.

Bro K reacted to 2bLikeJesus in Happy Grandparents Day!
In the U.S., today is national Grandparents Day!  If you are blessed by still having Grandparents on earth reach out and talk to them today!

These top 10 quips are from an assignment given to a 2nd grade elementary class that asked the kids to tell what a grandparent is.

    1.  Grandparents never skip pages when reading you a story, and they don't mind if you ask them to read the same story over and over again.
    2.  Grandparents are the adults that have time for you.  (ouch)
    3.  Grandparents can take out their teeth and gums.
    4.  Grandparents never tell you to "hurry up".
    5.  Grandparents tell you "money doesn't grow on trees" and then spend on you like it does.
    6.  Grandma always lets you lick the bowl and doesn't mind you sticking your finger in the batter.
    7.  I want to die like my grandpa. in his sleep and not screaming and yelling like his passengers.
    8.  Grandpa says it was great becoming a grandpa until he realized that meant he was married to a grandma.
    9.  Grandparents always have really funny stories about mom and dad.
    10. Grandmas' have the softest laps in the world.

Happy Grandparents Day to all the Grandparents out there!

Some of you knew I have had back prOBlems and after the last slip four weeks ago I had thought I was never going to be better.

For three weeks straight I was in very severe pain.  My sciatic nerve was being pinched and I could not sleep, sit or walk for three weeks.  I was miserable in every way.

Anyway, my doctor would not see me again because he had referred me to UVA for arthritis on my Lumbar.  Out of frustration I went to the emergency room one week ago.  The doc comes in she looked at my xrays, pushed all over and then came to the conclusion that I had a very bad pulled muscle up in my hip behind my groin that was pushing on the nerve.

She gave me the correct medications and in 24 hours I was about ready to dance.  A week later and you couldn't tell I ever had any pain.

I prayed about it to go or not and it was well worth going.  This is the kind of care we are going to get under OBama care, doctors who can't diagnose a sprained muscle.

    to God be the glory

How does the "And if they will learn any thing" relate to 'speaking in tongues'? Is speaking in tongues a learning subject and the husband must be capable of teaching his wife about it?
Why would Paul single out the women on this subject matter?

I would lkke to thank all who have prayed for me for a liver transplant.  The Lord miraculously provide a liver for me, and I am doing well.  I am out of the woods yet, completely, and now have a limited lifestyle, but thank God, I am still kicking!

When the Lord told the thief on the cross that today, thou shalt be with me in paradise, where did the thief go?

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.   They went into the heart of the earth. Paradise was emptied, and moved to heaven; therefore, the paradise that was once in the heart of the earth is now in heaven, and heaven is now referred to as Paradise.
  12. Thanks
Bro K reacted to Steve Schwenke in Paradise And Abraham's Bosom
Abraham's bosom was a temporary "holding place" for OT saints, because the only sacrifice for sins the OT saints had was animal sacrifices as prescribed by the Law, and even before the Law.  The final sacrifice was not paid until the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for ALL sins.  It was at this point that the OT saints were "released" from Abraham's bosom, and taken to the 3rd Heaven.

They started James on 500mg Amoxicillian twice a day for 10 days.  And took out a large vial of blood.  the nurse said he did better than most big people do.  He barely cried but it was uncomfortable for him.

Thank you for all your prayers.  One thing we can all agree on is God answers prayer.

We are taking some of our folks out to the local fireworks event here in Amarillo.  We will be passing out tracts to the crowd and maybe even a little street preaching.  It is a great opportunity to reach lost people with the gospel of Christ.  Last year we passed out 1000's of tracts.

And then, since we are there, we get to see the fireworks.  Yeah!

The term 'old paths' is a misnomer as used in todays IFB circles.
My old paths would be in the 50s and 60s.
The old paths for the 50s and 60s IFB; would be the time preceding their time.
    And So-On.
The true Old Paths would be those created by Jesus and walked by Apostle Paul.
Want to find the Old Paths......Read the Bible

Thought to Ponder. If time exist long enough; We will be looked upon as the Old Path.

Bro K reacted to paid4 in Altar Calls...
I hate getting suckered into going down to the alter. Lots of preachers start out by asking a question that gets you to raise your hand. Like "do you want to be a better christian", slip up your hand so I can pray for you. Then they back door you and say if you raised your hand then you need to come down to the alter. Then you feel like you're OBligated to go.

Bro K reacted to John81 in Why The Rift?
It is true that among some IFBs there is the prOBlem Paul had to confront with some saying they were of Paul, others of Apollo...

Today some within IFB are quick to align themselves with a particular preacher or IFB "camp" and identify themselves in such a way with them so that those are exalted while Christ is actually being diminished (even if that's not their intent).

If Christ isn't our focus, something is wrong.

Preachers and laity alike need to be on guard against such things. Preachers need to be careful not to elevate themselves, or allow others to elevate them. The laity needs to be on guard for signs a pastor is exalting himself and be careful not to allow themselves to exalt a pastor.

It's part of that ever present battle of setting our affections on things above, having our eyes set on Christ, while being vigilant not to allow ourselves to be entangled with the world, or become focused upon the temporary.

Our eyes, hearts and minds are quick to wonder and it's only through devotion to Christ and relying upon Him that we can walk rightly in this world.

Not much. There is really only one old path: the one that Jesus made for us.
If one doesn't like the leadership.....talk to the leader and if he still doesn't like it....move on down the road instead of causing discord among the brethren.
Personally; the only leader I have is my Pastor.
