  • Bio I was saved in a Conservative Baptist church in 1962 and attended BIOLA (Bible Institute of Los Angeles) shortly thereafter. I agree, for the most part, with Dr. Peter Ruckman; however, I am not a "Ruckmanite", per se.

  1. Scientists are now breathing life into the concept of chimeras by creating organisms containing the cells of humans and animals. Several teams in the US are inserting human tissue into early pig and sheep embryos. The journal MIT Technology Review estimates that 20 such hybrid embryos have been produced, an early proof-of-principle step towards growing human organs inside animal tissue. The hybrid embryos have been observed in early development but, crucially, are never brought to term. The Salk Institute in California, together with the universities of Stanford and Minnesota, are among the institutions pioneering the as-yet-unpublished research.  http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/0e5b229c-bb8a-11e5-b151-8e15c9a029fb.html#axzz3zOfCMpDb For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Matthew 24:24 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 2. Hebrews 6

I think that the shallow "drive-by" poster has already added his two-cents.  Shallow posters like that are simply desiring attention, as their responses are very limited in intellect and they never have any meaningful Original Post to offer. The book of Hebrews was written to the religious leaders in Jerusalem.  It is written in very refined Koine Greek, designed for rather formal and official communication.  This would seem to indicate that the author was highly respected in the Temple leadership, possessing a very refined and well organized communication skills.  Essentially, the first 12 chapters are written as a sermon, to be formally delivered at synagogue.  The last chapter seems to have been "added on" and does not bear the same standard as the previous portion. Hebrews gives tremendous insight into what was going on at the highest levels of the Hebrew Religion in Jerusalem.  It must have been a time of tumultuous  debates going on there in Jerusalem that first decade after the resurrection.  So, in that respect, the author is encouraging those who accepted Yeshua Messiah as the King of Israel, that they should persevere against the majority of self-righteous "religious" leaders who were suffering from pride, which was preventing them from repenting and accepting Yeshua Messiah. The result of national repentance and salvation would have brought about the return of Yeshua Messiah and the setting-up of the Millennial Kingdom. δέ εἰ τὶς ἀγνοέω ἀγνοέω
  3. Man-made DNA

Since gene-splicing is becoming highly advanced, it is no doubt that Satan will send his "last batch" of fallen angels to the earth during the Tribulation to utilize this technology.  We know from Genesis 6 that genetic hybrids were created by the fallen angels mixing with human women, which resulted in the half-human/half-angel nephilim.  Many have trouble understanding that angels could have DNA, but I do not. Of course we don't know all the "technology" that was available pre-flood, but mixing species by gene-splicing is a common practice today. The human genome is already being manipulated in the name of science (and to "cure" diseases).  As it was in the days of Noah...

Yea, it's pretty straight-forward.  Prior to Augustine, it was universally understood to be fallen angels bene Elohim (or called "Watchers" in the Book of Enoch). The reference in Genesis 6 is "the sons of God" cohabiting with "the daughters of Men" bath 'adam                                                                    [     angels could eat and drink in the O.T. and were the objects of sexual-desire by the Sodomites, which tells us that they could "materialize" on earth] The older view, held nearly unanimously by ancient writers prior to Augustine of Hippo, is that the Benei Ha'Elohim (Sons of God) or The Watchers were fallen angels in extra-Biblical traditions. While there has always been a minority of churchmen who followed this view The view posited by St. Augustine in the fourth century is that the Sons of God refers to the god-fearing line of Seth; and the daughters of men refers to the daughters of the unbelieving line of Cain.  http://creationwiki.org/Bene_Elohim 4th Century Catholic Church doctrine still has tremendous influence on doctrine today.  A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.  Gal 5:9 δέ εἰ τὶς ἀγνοέω ἀγνοέω
  5. Hebrews 6

Are you saying that Jews (ie: Hebrews) during the time of Acts were expecting Israel to fulfill its destiny and bring-about the Millennial Kingdom, and that following the Rapture (harpazo) of the Body of Christ (ie: "church"), that there will again be Jews (ie: Hebrews) who will again be believing in the return of Messiah to set-up his Kingdom on earth, and that the book of Hebrews then has a dual-purpose (both during Acts and following the Rapture) of encouraging Jews to be steadfast???
  6. Hebrews 6

Don't you promote that "the Church" has replaced "Israel" (in the case of Acts 2, the Sect of the Nazarenes, led by Peter)?
  7. Hebrews 6

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.    Hebrews 6:1-8   And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4   [Peter] But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: Acts 2:16-18 He·brew ˈhēbro͞o/ a member of an ancient people living in what is now Israel and Palestine and, according to biblical tradition, descended from the patriarch Jacob, grandson of Abraham. After the Exodus ( circa 1300 BC) they established the kingdoms of Israel and Judah, and their scriptures and traditions form the basis of the Jewish religion.   δέ εἰ τὶς ἀγνοέω ἀγνοέω

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. The word used there is Ekklesia, which simply means "assembly".  Israel in the wilderness was an "assembly" [Acts 7:38].  Synagogues are called an "assembly".  You are using the rules of "Replacement Theology" and assuming that all scriptures refer only to "the church" (Body of Christ), and that God has only one group of "elect".  You are "assuming" that Revelation was written to and for "the church" (Body of Christ). Was John a "Hebrew"?  Was John part of "Israel"? Do the promises of Exodus 19:5-6 apply to Israel, or has the church "replaced" Israel?
  10. IN THE BEGINNING

(loud buzzing sound) Eden the garden of God is not the same as the Garden of Eden,    (example: as there is a heavenly tabernacle [Heb 8:1-2] and (there was) an earthly tabernacle) δέ εἰ τὶς ἀγνοέω ἀγνοέω                                                                                           1 Tim 5:1

Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel: And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth. Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,  2 Samuel 7:8-10
  12. The Kingdom

Note that their is no mention of "priest", "priests", or "priesthood" in any of the Epistles of Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles. Stealing someone else' promises (Israel) and misapplying them to yourself (Body of Christ) is false-teaching. And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.  Exodus 19:6a
  13. The Kingdom

Back to the OP Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.  Exodus 19:5-6
  14. The Kingdom

The original Hebrew word is nephilim.  The (Greek) Septuagint translated nephilim to gigantes (as well as the Latin Vulgate). Gigantes does not strictly mean "giant", but rather great strength and aggression. Perhaps it would have been better to just leave the Hebrew word "untranslated" rather than use the Septuagint to aid in the translation.  Sons of God mated with human women and produced nephilim.  Pretty straight-forward to me and I don't have to "wrestle" with the scriptures like Augustine and the early Catholic Church.
  15. IN THE BEGINNING

Many IFB Christians believe that Satan was cast out of the "Third Heaven" (where God dwells) already, and now is limited to the "Second Heaven" - being the stars & planets ("heavens"), and that he will be cast to the earth during the Tribulation (where he will be judged).  "Prince of the powers of the air" (Ephesians 2:2) would then refer to the "First Heaven" (atmosphere). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.  2 Cor 12:2
