  2. Hi guys! first post.. So im active on a board for fitness and in the non-sense board there is a Christian debate going on. I have posted two replies and im wondering if its worth it. In person you can talk to a person and see them, and you are not arguing vs who is better at googling answers etc. At the same time, just like hearing someing cussing and using Gods name, watching these threads just drive me mental at the ignorance about what "christians believe". What do you think? Boards like this between christians learning and sharpening theology I love... but the debate vs an atheist.. fruitful?
  3. Being Representatives

Our Sunday School lesson was on 2 Corinthians 6:1-13.  The verse that really stood out to me was verse 3, "Giving no offence in any thing; that the ministry be not blamed:"  It took me back to 2 Corinthians 5:20, "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."  We are ambassadors, or representatives, of Christ on this earth.  An ambassador represents his country to another country.  That person embodies the ruler of his country for the citizens of another country.  He acts on his behalf.   Verses 4 and 6 seemed to build on that for me, "But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned."  It called to mind 2 Corinthians 4:2,5, "But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, not handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake."   As representatives we should strive to be blameless, for we reflect on Christ and his ministry, and everything we do should put forth Christ and not ourselves.  John 3:30, "He must increase, but I must decrease."   John 13:35, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."   1 Corinthians 13:4-8a, "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all thins, hopeth all things, endureth all things.  Charity never faileth;"   Challenged me to ask myself, When people see me how is that reflecting on my Lord?
  4. I have just started reading this book and was wondering if others out there have read it.  Can you give me an general comments?   Thanks!
  5. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in a book swap? Trading or borrowing with other members who have IFB books. Since the local library doesn't have a section for IFB books and some I'd like to preview before purchasing and some I'd like to just read and be done with it. Books are so expensive on a limited income even sale one's. I only have a few books since becoming IFB and would like to read more on Baptist history. Since I'm somewhat new to IFB I'm unfamiliar with authors in this area also for finding using books on Ebay.
  6. Fellowship Baptist Church Senior Pastor R. Rubino 2929 West 20th Street (718)-372-5022 "Christian Homosexual LOBby!" Saved To Be Lawless? Part 3 1) True marriage in the Bible is always defined as a sacred bond between a man and a woman. Only a Satanic Theologian could distort this plain Biblical truth. (1Peter 3:1-7) 2) True Christians are always exhorted to flee "lawlessness" in their lives. Children of God will always sin, but never defend it. We are to repent when we commit evil acts, not redefine them into righteous acts. (1Peter 3:8-13) 3) Christians are to fight to extend the Kingdom of our God. Like faithful soldiers involved in any battle we will suffer injury. (1Peter 3:14-18) 4) Jesus Christ truly is King of the Universe and all of creation will bow before him. We as Christians pray for people to bow as servants of the King, and not as vanquished enemies. (1Peter 3: 19-22) Watch Full Sermon on Youtube at

  8. Since joining the IFB church I'm trying to clean out my library of christian authors that don't line up with IFB teachings. Like Billy Graham. I'd like to read some books by women that are IFB but don't know where to start. Do I pitch books by Joyce Meyers? Pat Robertson? Sheila Walsh?
