By Particular Baptist
Dear brethren, greeting from Him that has loved us and made us accepted in the beloved. I hold to the Baptist Catechism of 1693 and 1689 Second London Confession (though do not maintain eternal generation or Calvinism), maintain the five solae and read the Authorized Version, God's pure, preserved word in English nine times a year. Thusly, that means maintaining and defending the Second Rabbinic Bible (Daniel Bomberg ben Chayyim 1252 Hebrew text) as well as the Byzantine text (typically Scrivener's or Beza's fifth edition). However, while no modernist, I am no longer a fundamentalist but a Particular Baptist. This means the beliefs of those such as John Bunyan, Issac Bakkus, Benjamin Keach are quite similar to mine. Would I be welcome if not a fundamentalist? May we all love and glorify (Ps. 115; I Jn. 1-5) the only Potentate, king of kings and Lord of Lords.
Should one not know the solae, shame on you! They are solus Christus, soli Deo gloria, sola fide, sola gratia and sola and tota scriptura. These in one form or another have been the Christian creed from the beginning.
I found this site and thought it was neat. It is interesting to see various opinions on the plethora of topics that I have already discovered here.
My name is Brandon, I was born and raised in Kentucky. The Lord called me to mission work and I am currently in the most dangerous city in Mexico and have been working at a church I started about 6 months ago. I am 23 years old (I know, I'm young).
I went through some bible college in Louisville, Kentucky (before you ask, it was NOT the Southern Baptist Seminary), went to school for a semester in Mexico, but most of my theological training took place at my local church under my pastor (as I believe the Bible teaches). I learned Spanish at a very early age and started working with missionaries when I was about 13.
I'm glad to be on here and hope to see some helpful topics and discussions.
I found this site following the blog entries and news surrounding Jeremy Whitman. I do not care to discuss this horrible news but I am thankful that through it I may have found an online home to chat with others of like faith and practice.
I was saved in 1974. I entered the Marine Corps upon graduating high school in 1976 and served 4 years. Then in 1980 I attended Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College in San Dimas, CA (now Heartland Baptist College in Oklahoma City) until 1982. Rather than give a history of all the churches I have been a member of (I moved around the country a lot) I will just state where I have been a member for the last 12 years 3 months. I am a member of an independent fundamental Baptist church at Victory Baptist Church of Roseburg, OR under Pastor Clint Caviness. I am active in the ministry as the sound man, weekly soul winning (door to door), and cleaning the church on a 3 week rotation with 2 other families. I am single and have been single now for 19 years after a divorce and my conviction against remarriage while my wife is still alive. She passed away in June of last year, so maybe someday...but I am in no hurry, having become very accustomed to a single celebate lifestyle now. I consider myself an advanced not quite expert level student of the Bible. My shortfall that keeps me from being an "expert" is a dependence on my online Bible sources for book, chapter and verse of passages and scripture I know are in the Bible. I am absolutely KJV only and NOT a bible critic. I let the Bible define it's own terms, not some Greek/Hebrew dictionary.
I am looking forward to being active in studies, and discussions on this forum.
Your brother in Christ.
In His Will. By His Power. For His Glory.
