Does Anybody Have Any Music Videos That You Care To Share?

Recommended Posts

I thought about putting this under the Music forum, but it isn't really a Biblical issue (at least I hope not!!!) so I put it in the Lounge. Just think of it as chamber music.

Here's my contribution. (PS, this was impromptu so please excuse my uncombed hair.)

Cool guitar work. I love it.

(But you could smile - it doesn't look like you enjoyed it, but I am sure you did. :15_1_63:)

Anyway - it made me smile.

I am very limited in what I can do, and it ain't anywhere near that! (Where's the two thumbs up emoji when you need it?)

There's actually a physiological reason why most musicians don't smile while they play. Playing music engages practically every area of the brain at once, and so it has to do with the concentration necessary to perform the music.

In other words, it's a lot of brain work.

Don't let that stop you from posting a video! I started out very limited so believe me, I can appreciate anything you put up there.

Wait, that's the line he uses when I look like that.

The difference is, I look like that when I'm playing guitar; you look like that...well, all the time.

Yep, everyone starts the same place ----- "so, where do I place my fingers?"  and "How come (that's 'Why is it' for you non-Southerners) when I do that, it doesn't sound like music?"

I might see ifn I can find me sumpin....

I have a 12 and have been playing for about 30 years, but never put in the effort to get as good as you.

I play enough to sing a few hymns to and to do the odd special, but it is basically musical, but not fancy.

If I can find something, it will most likely have my voice over it, and if it is good it will be my daughters singing.

Coupla days though - not today, probably not tomorrow......

Ok OFP, your turn to post a video.

We're waiting................:think_smiley_11:

(PS to those who may not know, OFP is the one who got me started on the guitar)

You're late to the party. I've posted 2 or 3 in the past.

Here is an audio file of me doing a song I found. The Guitar is a Fenix 12, basic fingerpicking, two voices.

Assuming the attachment thingy works....

God's been good_harmony.mp3

Folks, a quick warning - link downloads on my phone instead of playing. I don't know what it does on pc, but you most likely don't want my droning permanently on your device......

Added warning.

Dave,

I clinked on the attachment and it came up on my Linux Decibel Audio Player and played very nice. I enjoyed the song, 'God is Good.' I was also able to savve it with no problems.

Dave & Muscician4God1611,

If either or you, or some of the other brethren, have any more songs I think all of us would enjoy listening to them.

Alan

Dave, quick download, use player of choice, done deal. Thanks.

Did you pick up the chording somewhere or did you find the progression yourself?

Glad it is working fine.

I follow music but don't 'read' it exactly.

Most songs I play by ear, hearing it and finding the chords myself.

I can play if the chords are written above the music.

Good job of catching the 2 - 5 (E - A) and 6m (Bm). I would have used Roman numerals but my I (upper case I -- sound as eye) looks like an l (lower case ell)

Thank you for sharing that. It was a blessing.

I think I remember something about NoNicolaitanes playing guitar.

I no longer play.

However, my wife bought me another recorder (instrument) last year, so I'm teaching myself how to play it...trying to learn to read sheet music for it too.

I had a really nice recorder many years ago and was learning it...until our daughter got a'hold of it...

Just wanted to share an experience to all the musicians and aspiring musicians with kids. I started teaching my daughter (2 years old) the piano. I know, I'm crazy. But really it was easy. I took colored construction paper and tape, and color coated two octaves of white keys. And rather than teach her A B C D E F G, I taught her Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Si Do. Well, I've been at it for a month or two now, and not only does she know all the notes by heart, she can hit them by command as I call them out randomly.
Teach your children music, because it will impact their life, and their life will impact their church, and their church will impact the world.

What music artists can you recommend?

      Please no Southern Gospel.

I am currently looking for new music, I have recently turned away from Southern Gospel.

I am convinced that heavy ragtime/ swing/ boogie woogie rhythms have no place in sacred music.

      Can you recommend some music?

I really do not like large choir style music because I have a hard time picking out the words.

      thanks in advance.

My search for a place to dialogue with independent Baptists almost ended in disappointment. Many websites claiming to have IFB distinctives, attract the foul and carnal. My perception is that this site keeps that element in check.

I recently launched a website as a tool to assist people under the guidance of my music ministry. I don’t have any commercial motives and freely provide materials that will help like-minded Christians learn to play music that glorifies God.

Here’s a summary of my testimony. Before I was bought with the blood of Christ, I lived for and played secular music. Once I was saved, I tried to play the hymns on guitar but it sounded too much like what I used to play. I came to a place where I never thought I’d play again and didn’t touch a guitar for many years. To me, the guitar was guilty by association and greatly used by spiritual wickedness in high places.

In recent years God opened doors I never intended to push open. I literally had to re-learn to play and I now arrange hymns and Christ-honoring gospel music for the guitar.

When I started my project, I was unsuccessful finding materials to help me learn the hymns the way my church played them. Most everything I found was influenced by another genre of music. I didn’t want to play in the style of jazz, classical, rock, bluegrass, etc. I realized I was going to have to grab a hymnal and do this myself. It was a lot of work but it was very gratifying and I’ve learned so much.

Now I’m sharing the things I’ve learned for all because this information would have been tremendously helpful to me and I hope others will find it useful as well. If you’re a musician or just think what I have to offer will be helpful, please let me know. It will encourage me to stick around.

My website is and ministry is BlessedSongs.

      In Christ,
      Tom
