In that past we have had discussion where only certain members that wanted to can post in. We did this for an atheist one time, it was not ""freestyle" but was done in a debate style and one could post at his/her convenience. We had rules that the "debaters" had to follow and everyone followed the rules and it went very smoothly.
Everyone could view the discussion. I guess it could be done again.
Thank you for your input. It is very hard to define Independent anymore. When we started this forum 12 years ago we could say Independent without a problem, now though is seems that the term Independent is broader than it ever has been. James, would you be willing (with others interested) in doing a video handout and in the near future and discussing this issue? I would like to get others input in a video conversation environment instead of posting on forums.
John, I never said in my post that the preacher preaches the same message, so my post is true.
A missing part of the story of the OP is that we do not know if God was telling him to preach the message over and over. Maybe the members were not listening so God told the pastor to preach it again. God repeats himself in the Bible, so maybe the problem is with us some times.
Yes we are to move from milk to meat, but some Christians are too lazy to learn to eat the meat.
Yes, there are bad pastors, but on the flip slide, there are bad members as well. We all have sinned.
It is sad that this happens. I know pastors have it hard a lot of times because they have a church with people on all different spiritual levels. Some know hardly anything about the Bible while others are very well versed. I've had people come to me and say that they are not getting fed in church. My reply usually is, "How hungry are you?" Because when you are really hungry, anything sounds really good.
I love listening to preaching and according to the Bible His Word will not return void. As long as the Word of God is getting preached and I'm letting God work in me, I will get something out of that message, no matter if a kid is preaching or a seasoned preacher.
Why is that we fundamentalists reject CCM because it uses the Rock and Roll beat, yet we embrace Southern Gospel and other styles that use the same exact Piano Rhythms that were used in Ragtime, Swing and other early genres from the early 1900s.
Do a study on the history of the musical genres of Ragtime, Blues, Honkey Tonk, and Boogie Woogie.
I really am tired of this hypocrisy, you either must accept all genres as being valid, or you must reject all these other genres that borrow the worlds bar scene rhythms.
does 50 years passing by somehow make these genres and styles that were used to promote filth somehow make these now sanctified?
after studying and praying about music I've come to the conclusion that it's the rhythm of all these genres that connects them to immorality.
Our young people and others are going to see through this hypocrisy and this is going to cause us to lose any right we have to preach against CCM.
You cannot preach against CCM and yet embrace Southern Gospel without being a hypocrite, and don't think just because the Southern Gospel you listen to doesn't have a drum beat and your ok, Even most of the Southern Gospel songs that don't have drums in them at all still have Ragtime Piano Rhythm.
I'm trying to understand your purpose with this post. With the reply's that were mentioned, I was hoping that you would reply to some of the statements to clear things up, as there seems to be confusion with this post. Are you....
1) Saying you agreeing with fundamentalism that CCM is wrong, but tired of what you see as hypocrisy?
2) Just simply saying that you have an axe to grind with IFB?
3) Like CCM, but tired of IFB's not liking it but singing other songs similar to CCM?
