Music Writing Software.

24 January 2015 - 07:19 PM

While I have not been able to get out much in the last month, I watched a number of YouTube videos of how to play hymns on various instruments. One site played and sang hymns on various instruments and invited you to join in and play with them.  You could also download the music with a melody line and chords.  I didn't like a lot of the hymns they had.  But you could choose which you watched and downloaded.  One instrument they used was the Autoharp.  Well I have an Autoharp which I have hardly got out for about 20 years but watching those videos encouraged me to get it out and have a play.   I bought a new electronic tuner and tuned it up and played some of their downloads.  I now wish to transpose some hymns and wondered if there is any software which will enable to write the melody lines with chords above and words below.  I could write them out by hand but it is not too easy these days as I have arthritis in my hands and my writing is not all that legible.  I did find a commercial package but it was quite expensive and I would not want to write vary many.

My wife also has an Autoharp, an Oscar Schmidt attaché Autoharp which she plays on her lap.  She has been asking me to tune it for her for ages but I knew what she would do, she played it once when I reminded her and then put it away.

Hey Ukulelemike

Ukulelemike

I thought this may interest you.  On our TV tonight is The Ukulele Orchestra of GB.

Thew reviewer says he first saw them playing ten years ago in Portesham Village Hall in Dorset, then in 2005 they made in on a TV New years eve show.  Now no more playing in village halls in Darkest Dorset.  Tonight's effort comes from the Sydney Opera House.  Well, I never.

A Blessed New Year.

29 December 2014 - 04:04 PM

I wish everybody on h Forum a blessed new year.

Ours does not seem to be starting off well. After a week or so of an irritating throat, while out shopping on Saturday it developed into a sore throat, and I was coughing and sneezing.  By today it was worse, and I lost all strength in my legs and arms, finding it difficult to get out of my armchair.  Also today my  wife has got it,

Pope Says "dogs Go To Heaven"

12 December 2014 - 07:53 PM

On a news report today, the Pope told a bereaved young person, that their dog would be in heaven. Thinking about it I saw it in the press review.  The reviews said "That goes against Catholic teaching. But as he is Pope and infallible it will probably now be Catholic policy"

But the bible says "Re 22:15  For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie."

My dad said he thought that meant human dogs. However dogs and cats as well as horses are unclean animals and I don't thing any unclean thing will be in heaven.

Black Friday

29 November 2014 - 08:15 PM

Our stores seem to have joined the BLACK FRIDAY bandwagon. On they news last night they shewed some stores having fights over TVs etc, including one Tesco.  I asked a member of staff at our Tesco if they had fights and he said no, it wasn't terribly busy, but as they are open 24 hours, they did have about 100 people turn up at midnight.

As for us we went to France for the day and went shopping in the AUCHAN Hypermarché, and what did they have when we got there? BLACK FRIDAY, and inside the store for DVDs they had BLACK WEEKEND.  They seem to have given up altogether on protecting the  French Language from encroaching Anglicisms. C'est la vie.
