Aspirations For 2014

03 January 2014 - 10:41 AM

So, does anyone have any special plans for this new year?  Goals you want to accomplish or special projects you are working on?

I recently bought a little blender that is designed to make nutritious smoothies.  I have been making lots of nice smoothies with spinach, strawberries, bananas and blueberries.  I'm hoping it will encourage more healthful eating habits.  I also want to spend a bit more time on the ol' treadmill.

I also bought an embroidery machine last month and I'm looking forward to learning how to use it (it's a rather intimidating machine!).  I can't wait to experiment with all the beautiful free embroidery designs I have found on the Internet.

By this time next year (unless the Lord comes before then), I'm hoping to be preparing to move into a larger apartment.  I should have some medical bills paid off by then, and I should be able to get into a somewhat less cramped space.  I'm excited about that!

I think this is going to be a good GREAT year!

This morning I read one of my very favorite passages from Isaiah.  What a perfect meditation for a new year:

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me;

because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek;

He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,

and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God;

to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,

To give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning,

the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they might be called trees of righteousness,

the planting of the Lord,

that He might be glorified."

(Isaiah 61:1-3)

I pray that in all I do and say and think this year, He might be glorified.

For 2014 I'm going to be drinking healthy smoothies, walking on my treadmill, and trying to overcome my fear of the fancy embroidery machine in my sewing room.  Soooo, how about everyone else?  What are you all planning for 2014?

A Note Of Re-Introduction

01 January 2014 - 03:05 AM

After a rather extended absence, I visited this web site earlier today and was so happy to see many names I recognized.  Out of curiosity, I looked back through this forum and found my original introductory post in July 2010.  My how time flies!

The description I gave in that original post still applies:  "I reside in north Texas, work as a legal secretary, never married, and enjoy a quiet life with my two naughty little cats."

I look forward to getting reacquainted with old friends and making new friends.

Have a blessed new year!

Blessed New Year

01 January 2014 - 02:41 AM

I stayed up to welcome the new year with prayer.  There are so many blessings for which to give thanks, but also so many concerns for which to pray.  The world seems to be turning more bold in its sinfulness and thinking only of evil day and night.

While reading Psalms, I came across a lovely verse for this new year:  "Thou crownest the year with Thy goodness" (Psalm 65:11).

May God crown 2014 with His goodness for all of you!!

Perhaps this will be the year when Christ returns again!
