#265659 Discussion Topic - Is Dancing Always Wrong?

Posted by Bro Jim on 24 February 2011 - 09:10 AM

Is dancing always wrong? Would, for example, a couple slow-dancing be in sin? Married, or unmarried? Yes, or no? Why, or why not?
God bless,
Joel ><>.
2 Chronicles 7:14.

Its OK to dance if your name is David. :yeah:

2 Samuel 6:14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

David, "danced unto the LORD" and was not in a hugging contest to music as most dancing seem to exhibit, and so worst than that. Personally even if a husband and wife are going to do it, it belongs in an intimate setting as it should be between them.

I've heard that comment made about aggressive soul winning too. It is up to God and Him alone we cannot force God to do anything, We cannot force of command God, there is a group ut there that believes you can, and think they are called "Word of Faith", you are sick, etc. because you have not commanded God to heal you, therefore you are in sin.

1 Samuel 8:17 "He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants."

If a tenth made the Israelites servants/slaves then what about the 3 -4 tenths we pay?

I don't advocate a revolt, but we have remained silent for to long, I read somewhere these stats,

Contacting your government representatives,

1 letter = 10 +/- phone calls = 100 emails.

A letter holds more sway than an email, and most emails just get processed by a impersonal sever.

You might be a redneck if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, ‘One nation, under God..’

You might be a redneck if: You’ve never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.

You might be a redneck if: You still say ‘Christmas’ instead of ‘Winter Festival’

You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when someone prays.

You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your handover your heart when they play the National Anthem

You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have.

You might be a redneck if: You’ve never burned an American flag, nor intend to.

You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and you aren’t afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.

You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same.

You might be a redneck if: You’d give your last dollar to a friend.

#262925 New Name for IFBs

I'm sticking with my guns for "separated" :makmiday:

Seems like separation is a thing of the past in Independent Baptist Churches. Anyways, I really do not think the name is a big deal, I think our reputation with the lost in our community is the bigger deal at hand.

Very good and true, but our reputation has been further tarnished by the continual association of "fundamentalist" with those who are evil and dangerous. For some, simply hearing that word causes their defenses to go up and their ears to close to us.

However, for those in our community who we interact, they should be able to see Christ in us and know that at least when it comes to us, the evil associated with "fundamentalist" doesn't describe us.

That is why when I dealing with those outside the church or our circle I tell them "I a Baptist just a plain Baptist."

BroMatt your right about the separation.

#262871 Article on "Once Saved, Always Saved!"

Posted by Bro Jim on 08 January 2011 - 06:41 PM

I am going to take the Bible for what it says. Eternal life, everlasting life, never leave me nor forsake me.

I use this illustration and it has become even more real to me because of my own son.

When we have a child born to us is there anything that can make that child no longer our child.

I have a son who has gone as far away from what he has been taught is right you can say he has done a 180 degree turn from the way he was brought up. He even got to the point he had to be told, "Do not return until you get right."

Is he no longer my son? If he denies me as his father is he no longer my son? If he changes his name, is he no longer my son? If he suffers from so unknown disease, has reaction to some drug, illicit or not, and his brain or reasoning somehow malfunctions, is he no longer my son?

What does that have to do with eternal security? Because that is what it is, eternal security. Once I have become a child of God, I am a child of God. No one, not me, you or anyone else can change that. My son will always be my son and I will be his dad.

#261259 Sometimes It's Heaven, Sometimes It's Hell

Posted by Bro Jim on 16 December 2010 - 02:39 PM

So what I am seeing is that there is a belief that a loving God, the One that sent His only Son, to pay for the sins of the whole world, would not show that grace to an infant. He stopped the disciples from sending them away from Him while He was here. I do not believe an infant goes to Hell. What kind of god would do that. Not my God!! Time and again God refers to children as His or a heritage from God. If your god would send infants to Hell you can keep him.
