A poem or a song?

I wrote a song too, but don't know how to get permission to use the tune, so I just keep it in my records. (Actually, you could say it is merely a poem)


The Lord of Calvary
(Fits the tune of “The Ballad of Davy Crockett”)

He preached from a mountaintop in Galilee,
Preached a message that would make men free;
He walked through the sands of eternity,
And gave His life for you and me.

Jesus; Jesus Christ, the Lord of Calvary.

He healed the sick and He raised the dead,
He saw that the hungry were always fed;
Had no place where to lay His head,
He fed five thousand with two loaves of bread.

Jesus; Jesus Christ, King of kings is He.

He taught the multitudes, and cursed a tree,
He cast out devils, caused the blind to see;
Proving Himself to be deity,
By rising up for you and me.

Jesus; Jesus Christ, the Lord of Calvary.

He was “lifted up” when He tore the grave,
‘Tis to others that He gave and gave;
He lived the life of the free and brave,
‘T was mankind He came to save.

Jesus; Jesus Christ, the King of kings is He.

I have no idea how you would go about getting permission to use the tune, but i love the words. Great job.

One site gives George Bruns the author of the music. It seems that he worked for Disney so you could ask them.

On the other hand the tune may be traditional. The Disney version of DC is much shorter than some other versions.
